MBBS FMGE

FMGE means Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. The exam is a screening test. It is the test taken by the foreign students, NRIs and ORCs to get a registration certificate from NMC or National Medical Commission. It is a licensing test and not an entrance examination to get placed in any college or university.

Eligibility Criteria for FMGE
  • • The students applying for FMGE need to be an Indian national or an Overseas Citizen of India.
  • • The students need to have a MBBS degree before applying for a particular session after MBBS.
  • • They need to have MBBS rewarded to them by the WHO or MCI recognized college.
Syllabus of FMGE

The FMGE exam is divided into subsets of medicine.

Anatomy : This subset comprises questions from general anatomy, regional anatomy, elements of anatomy, embryology, human genetics, surface anatomy, histology, radiological anatomy and sectional anatomy taught during MBBS.

Physiology : This subset comprises questions from general physiology, nerves and muscles, kidneys, endocrine glands, cardiovascular system, central nervous system, body fluids, gastrointestinal tract, skin and body temperature, reproduction, respiratory system and special senses taught during MBBS.

Biochemistry : This subset comprises questions from cell and subcellular structures, isotopes and applications, amino acids, proteins and pesticides, nucleic acids, vitamins, digestion and absorption from gi tract, carbohydrate metabolism, protein and amino acid metabolism, minerals, tissue biochemistry, nutrition and energy metabolism, hydrogen ion concentration, carbohydrates, lipids, enzymes, biological oxidation, intermediary metabolism, lipid metabolism, purine and pyrimidine metabolism, biochemical genetics, liver functions and protein biosynthesis taught during MBBS.

Pathology : This subset comprises questions from cell injury, immunopathology, circulatory disturbances, nutritional and other disorders, hematology, respiratory pathology, hepatobiliary pathology, reproductive system, musculoskeletal system, neuropathology, ocular pathology, inflammation and repair, infectious disease, growth disturbances and neoplasia, genetic disorder, cardiovascular pathology, pathology of kidney and urine tract, lymphoreticular spleen, diseases of breast, endocrine pathology and dermatopathology taught during MBBS.

Microbiology : This subset comprises questions from general microbiology, bacteriology, systematic virology, mycology, clinical microbiology, immunology, general virology and parasitology taught during MBBS.

Pharmacology : This subset comprises questions from general pharmacology, cardiovascular system, drugs affecting blood and blood formation, respiratory system, endocrine pharmacology, psychopharmacology, chemotherapy, clinical pharmacology and rational drug use, autonomic nervous system, diuretics, autocoids and related drugs, gastrointestinal system, central nervous system, drugs in anesthesia practice and toxicology taught during MBBS.

General Surgery : This subset comprises questions from hemorrhage and shock, skin tumors, venous disease, wounds, disease of muscles and tendons, umbilical granuloma, oral health, breasts, craniocerebral injuries, genitourinary system, urinary bladder, urethra, vasectomy, esophagus, spleen, appendix and other types of surgeries taught during MBBS.

Anesthesia : This subset comprises questions from anesthesia, its definitions and procedures taught during MBBS.

Orthopedics : This subset comprises questions from orthopedics, its definitions and procedures taught during MBBS.

Registration Process
  • The students have to register themselves on the official website of NBE.
  • The admission window stays open for one to two weeks.
  • They have to generate the Login ID and Password for login.
  • The students have to upload the requested documents.
  • At last, the students need to check the application form correctly.
  • The students need to pay a fee after that.
Admit Card
  • The students need to check in for admit card details.
  • They have to check for the admit card when the registration window gets closed.
  • The students have to take a printout of the admit card that will be needed in the examination center.

Preparation for FMGE

The preparation for FMGE should be done adequately and you need to have some things in mind for the exam.

  • The notes are important. They need to have notes of important things that may be needed for revision.
  • The students need to formulate the habit to read newspapers, magazines and other things for new words and have quick reading ability.
  • The students have to practice the abilities and improve the speed for quick time management that is needed in the exam.
  • The students can get a knowledge of weaker and stronger areas from this which allows them to manage their time in the exam.
  • The students are required to take a healthy break within their study session to give the brain a good rest.

FMGE Results
  • The students can look for the results from the official website.
  • They will have a message and email received to them to check the results.
  • The students can have a copy of results with them for future references.
  • They are required to check the results on time to get the college of their choice

Important Things for FMGE
  • The students always need to have their admit card along with them.
  • They also need to carry a valid identity along with them that can be asked by the examination center.
  • They are not allowed to take calculators, smart watches, phones, tablets and any other electronic devices along with them inside the center.
  • They are not allowed to have metallic jewelry and accessories inside with them.
  • They are required to mention all the courses and subjects of FMGE.
  • They are not allowed to take bags, clothes with lots of pockets, jackets and closed footwear inside the examination hall.
  • They are not allowed to have any eatables and beverages with them inside the center.

FAQs

FMGE has become important with the growing years for students that are Indian but live outside India. It has become important so that the students can get their practice license and can become a doctor in India.

FMGE is generally considered hard. As a lot of students take the test every year, it is considered hard due to the growing difficulty to pass the examination. The students need to have the revision of their MBBS syllabus from the right time so that they can clear FMGE easily.

FMGE can be taken by graduate students with a medical degree. It can be taken by the 20+ year students and the upper limit is not set by the conducting board.

FMGE can be taken by the students itself. They can self-study and prepare for the exam and clear it on their own with adequate study and hard work.

The FMGE is for 300 marks and the last respectable mark is considered 150 to get admission within the government college of the country.
