About the College

Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College & General Hospital is located at Ambegaon, Narhe, Pune.Its founder, President Prof. M. N. Navale gave it her mother's name when it was established. This university has quickly built a solid reputation for academic excellence and patient care throughout Maharashtra, not just in Pune.

840 teaching beds, 80 ICU beds, 40 casualty beds, 20 beds for dental and oral surgery, 64 day care beds, 2 pain clinic beds, and 48 recovery beds in OT complete the current 1094-bed hospital, which opened in 2006 with just 300 beds. 100 students were admitted to the medical institution in September 2007 to begin the MBBS program. 150 students can now be accepted, which is an increase. The Medical Council of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian Government in New Delhi both certify their MBBS degree. Nashik's Maharashtra University of Health Science is associated with the college.

They also provide postgraduate courses in the fields of pediatrics, general medicine, ophthalmology, anesthesia, radiology, dermatology, pulmonary medicine, pathology, microbiology, pharmacy, and biochemistry. There are four buildings that make up the hospital. The first level and above are where you may find the OPD blocks, which are located on the ground floor, and the linked wards. Along with two square meals every day, they offer all of the hospital's amenities to indoor patients.

The number of patients using the OPD and IPD facilities has been increasing each year. 2016 saw 570592 OPD patients looked at, and 38806 were hospitalized, with an average daily bed occupancy of 84%. With an increase in patients, all departments have improved their infrastructure to provide sick and vulnerable people with better treatment.

Departments

1. Pre Clinical Departments

With the aid of the well-equipped infrastructure that is currently available, the Preclinical departments of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry continue their mission of providing medical education to First MBBS students. The newly admitted students participate in an "Orientation Programme" during which they receive advice and guidance on how to become good medical students and good doctors with a holistic approach. For new visitors to the campus, a guided tour of the college and hospital is provided. The curriculum is continuously updated and executed according to the directives of the Medical Council of India, New Delhi, and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nasik.

2. Anatomy

One of the fundamental and core sciences of medicine is human anatomy. It focuses on the examination of the human body's structure and its components. In addition to traditional teaching techniques, using contemporary technologies like 3D imaging movies and PowerPoint presentations helps medical students understand anatomy better.

3. Physiology

The medical field of physiology covers a wide variety of knowledge, connecting fundamental functional theories to the most innovative investigations in contemporary medicine. The department's main goal is to provide students with a solid foundation in the fundamentals so they can understand physiological concepts and the essentials of medicine.

4. Biochemistry

First-year medical students are taught biochemistry, a fundamental preclinical science subject that provides insight into the molecular basis of health and illness. Additionally, faculty members teach biochemistry to physiotherapy and nursing course undergraduates. First-year medical students take an active part in group lectures on diverse themes in applied biochemistry as well as a biochemistry display on the biochemistry of diseases.These are learning exercises that the students control, with the teacher acting as a guide. Additionally, they pick up knowledge and abilities by participation in quizzes, organizing and carrying out research projects, research presentations, publications, etc.

Medicine & Allied

By obtaining clinical histories, doing physical examinations, and conducting important clinical investigations, the medical and allied fields help students learn how to make a clinical diagnosis of a patient's ailment. These branches consist of:

1. General Medicine

The Department of Medicine saw growth and success in 2018. MCI acknowledges the department for 4 PG seats. This year's first group of four students graduated with honors. The fourth and fifth floors of the new structure house the general medicine department and the medical wards. There are five units in the department, and the medical wards have a total of 160 beds. On the fifth and fourth floors, respectively, are the Male Isolation Ward and the Female Isolation Ward.

2. Pediatrics

The sixth story of the new structure houses the pediatric wards and department. The pediatric wards include a total of 100 beds, including 8 in the PICU and 8 in the NICU. 3 units are present.

3. Respiratory Medicine

The department of respiratory medicine primarily treats and evaluates patients with respiratory illnesses like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, tuberculosis, sleep apnea, temporary lung diseases, cystic fibrosis, occupational lung diseases caused by exposure to fumes, dusts, metals, and various chemicals, chronic respiratory illnesses brought on by tobacco smoke, and respiratory illnesses brought on by exposure to household biomass fuel smoke. Daily OPDs are done in addition to treating in-patients and IRCU patients. Computer the measurement of s fiber-optic & video bronchoscopy, skin prick allergy testing, rigid thoracoscopy, polysomnography, body plethysmography, and diffusion investigations are all available in the department. These are routinely carried out for proper patient diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment if necessary.

4. Psychiatry

For patients and their families, the department of psychiatry makes sure that comprehensive mental health services are available. Through the active participation of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and psychiatric social workers, it offers interrelated intervention for the clients. As in the previous years, both the number and quality of clinical work continue to increase. By preparing for feedback forms from service users and adults, they promote input about the services provided. Clinical psychologists' and psychiatric social workers' roles are growing in order to deliver more complete psychosocial care of higher quality. In-patient psychiatric services are provided in 30 bed wards that are well-equipped with the tools needed to treat a variety of mental health issues.

5. Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy

The ward is on the second floor of Building No. 1 and the department is on the fourth floor. The Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy has 30 beds. The section handles both aesthetic and therapeutic dermatology, venereology, and leprosy. The section has a variety of cutting-edge equipment, including Cryosurgery, Phototherapy, Ellamana radiofrequency, Iontophoresis, Electro Quatry, and Electro Epilation units.

Surgery & Allied

The training of students in these professions includes performing surgical and other instrumental operations on patients to cure pathological conditions or wounds. The following divisions make up surgery and related specialties.

1. General Surgery

160 beds are allocated among the department's 5 functional units, with 40 beds each for units I, II, III, IV, and V. There are 160 beds total, with 100 for male patients and 60 for female patients. The department contains a full-featured endoscopy suite as well, and it is located on the second floor of the new structure. The department has daily operating rooms for surgery in addition to operating rooms for specialties such pediatric surgery, oncosurgery, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, The department has concentrated on offering advanced laparoscopy facilities, including as single port laparoscopic surgery and single incision laparoscopic surgery, in addition to conventional general procedures.

2. Orthopedics

On the first floor of the new building are the orthopedic wards and the department. Three units of 90 beds each make up the entire bed strength. Between January and December of last year, 2553 procedures were completed, of which 1056 were major and 1497 were minor. Specialty procedures such total joint replacements, spinal fixations and deformity correction, and arthroscopies of the knee and shoulder are frequently carried out.

3. Ophthalmology

Under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), the Department is taking all necessary steps to prevent blindness in the public. The most frequent treatments are spectacle prescription for vision correction and cataract surgery (Phaco & SICS) with intraocular lens implantation for vision restoration. For the diagnosis and treatment of ocular problems, the Department is equipped with cutting-edge technology.

4. Oto-Rhino-Laryngology

The Department of E.N.T. and its wards have their own floor in Building No. 2, whereas the OPD is located on Building No. 3's ground floor.Eight examination stations may be found in the E.N.T. OPD, along with a modern endoscopic room with laryngoscopy, ear microscopy, and nasal endoscopy equipment. In OPD, there is a little OT with modern equipment. The Voice Clinic, Vertigo Clinic, Cancer Clinic, and Nasal Deformity Clinic are a few of the specialty clinics administered by the department.

5. Anesthesia

The third floor of the new structure is where the department of anesthesia is placed. All surgical procedures are anesthetized in OT complexes located in both ancient and new buildings. In addition to basic services, super specialist sectors like plastic, pediatric, urosurgery, laparoscopies, OMFS, and neurosurgery are given anesthetic care. Remote locations for MRI, CT, ECT, endoscopies, interventional radiology suites, ophthalmic FFA, and cath labs also receive anesthesia services. We also conduct a pain clinic and an OPD for anesthesia. Additionally, obstetrics offers assistance for labor analgesia. Both OT facilities are fully furnished with the most modern and cutting-edge equipment, including anesthesia workstations, monitors, fumigation equipment, and air conditioning.

Hostel & Mess Facility

The MBBS stream graduate and postgraduate students have access to the hostel facility.
